E-1 and E-2 treaty countries are those that have trade, commerce and navigation treaty agreements with the United States. These agreements enable their citizens to apply for the Treaty Trader (E-1) and Treaty Investor (E-2) visas to carry out business activities in the US.

Under the E-1 Treaty Trader visa route, the visa applicants must prove their intention to engage in substantial trade, including trade in goods, services or technology, mainly between the treaty country (visa applicant’s home country) and the United States.
