The US immigration business plan is an integral and influential component of your US immigration visa application. It must enable the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) to reasonably infer the proposed venture’s viability and contribution to the national economy, raising the strength of your immigration case.
Immigrating to the US to pursue your business or investment goals can be a novel yet challenging experience. Besides dealing with a lengthy immigration process, businesspersons must adjust to the new commercial landscape. We will help you get a head start in your success journey in the US by crafting a business plan that you can defend during the visa process and implement once in the US.
Types of US Immigration Business Plan
The E-1 Treaty Trader visa is suitable for entrepreneurs who are citizens of ‘treaty countries’ that are planning to come to the US and engage in regular, significant international trade between their home (treaty) country and the United States.
Treaty-country nationals investing substantially in a United States business may be eligible for an E-2 Treaty Investor visa. The investment can be used to buy an existing company or bootstrap a new venture you will actively manage.
The EB-5 Immigrant Investor Program is suited for foreign nationals who are interested in investing in the United States and obtaining permanent residency. The investment range between $800,000 and $1.05 million depending upon the region.
US-based companies can relocate employees stateside from an affiliated overseas business through the L-1 visa category. For transfers of an executive or manager, the L-1A visa applies whereas the L-1B visa is required for transferring a specialized knowledge worker.

US Immigration FAQs
Common questions regarding the US immigration are addressed below:
DOES THE US HAVE AN ENTREPRENEUR/STARTUP VISA?
Yes, the US has several visas for entrepreneurs planning to start a business. These can be broadly classified as immigrant and nonimmigrant visas. Immigrant visas that lead to US citizenship include the EB-1A, EB-2 NIW, and EB-5 programs. Nonimmigrant pathways facilitating temporary stays include the International Entrepreneur Parole program and visa programs like the B-1, E-1, E-2, F-1, H-1, L-1, and O-1. Each program facilitates entrepreneurial pursuits in specific ways.
CAN I STAY IN USA IF I START A BUSINESS?
You can register a business in the US and run it while residing overseas, but you will need to come to the US to complete certain steps. And for that, you will need a visa—e.g., B-1 Temporary Business Visitor. For longer stays, you will need a different visa based on the requirement.
HOW MUCH DO YOU NEED TO INVEST IN US TO GET A GREEN CARD?
You can get a green card if you successfully complete the EB-5 Immigrant Investor Program. The program requires the visa applicant to either invest $800,000 in a Targeted Employment Area (TIA) of the US or invest $1,050,000 when investing outside of a TIA. There are other requirements as well.
Alternatively, if you can establish that you have an extraordinary ability in the sciences, arts, education, business, or athletics, then you might be eligible for an EB-1A visa. There is also the EB-2 NIW visa, which you can qualify for if you can demonstrate an exceptional ability in the sciences, arts, or business, or if you are a professional with advanced degrees. Both these visas do not have an investment requirement even though they may lead to lawful permanent residence.
HOW MUCH INVESTMENT IS REQUIRED FOR E2 VISA?
The visa guidelines do not specify an investment sum but state that it must be substantial. The investment requirement will depend on various factors, such as the type of business, its location, and other relevant circumstances. It must be sufficient to ensure the successful operation of the enterprise and to support the investor and their family.
DO COMPANIES SPONSOR US VISA?
There are several visa types that require a sponsorship letter from an employer, including H-1B (specialty occupations, defense workers, and fashion models), L-1 (intra-company transfers), O-1 (extraordinary ability or achievement), EB (priority workers, advanced degree holders, executives, managers, skilled workers, professionals, special immigrants, and investors) visas. Companies of different sizes and across a wide spectrum of industries may sponsor overseas hires and transfers, including the likes of tech giants like Meta, Alphabet, and Microsoft, professional service firms like Deloitte and E&Y, and retail and e-commerce companies like Walmart and Amazon. Different conditions apply to each visa type.
